About Us
New Life midwifery, LLC was founded in 2020 out of a desire to serve the families of our local community, have more freedom to travel and volunteer and to be closer to our own families. We love having time to devote to giving women our 24/7 support and undivided attention. We have office/exam spaces in Henrico and FarmVille and we will come to you to set up for your birth and for your first 2 postpartum visits. We make a great team and if you've spent any time around us, you know that we love our families, our calling, music and we laugh a lot! We are here to help you in any way we can.
International Work
International work is integral to what we do. Collectively, we have worked in Kenya, Tanzania, Guatemala, The Philippines, Haiti and Zambia. We are currently partnering with organizations in Liberia, Haiti, Zambia and worldwide. We donate monthly to these organizations, travel to volunteer with them and help train other midwives.
From the World Health Organization:
Every day in 2017, approximately 810 women died from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth.
Between 2000 and 2017, the maternal mortality ratio (MMR, number of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births) dropped by about 38% worldwide.
94% of all maternal deaths occur in low and lower middle-income countries.
Young adolescents (ages 10-14) face a higher risk of complications and death as a result of pregnancy than other women.
Skilled care before, during and after childbirth can save the lives of women and newborns.
We believe that safe birth is a human right and that the most effective way to tackle the orphan crisis is to prevent orphans through safe childbirth with a skilled birth attendant and to educate and empower parents to keep and raise their children. We have learned that people are the same all over the world and that parents love their kids the same no matter the resources they are dealt. It is our absolute joy to work alongside these women and midwives doing this important, life saving work.
When you choose to birth with us, you are weaving yourself into this essential work. Please ask us for more information and for opportunities to donate or volunteer!
